What do you guys feel about pre-ipo companies in adtech? It seems like a crowded space but a few of them seem to be cashflow positive and doing well. Are any of them like appnexus, tune, quantcast worth considering? The last few ipos in the sector have been mixed (criteo, rocketfuel etc) and none of them seem to be headed to a blockbuster ipo
stay away from this space ... there is too much bs lack of transparency and bs algorithms and dependency on cookies that is going to get killed by companies like Facebook that can ID the person cross device ... if you want in this space I'd get ahead of the game and look for companies that are thinking about online/offline, advertising in AR/VR, smart use of 1st party data and tech that makes targeting on FB or LinkedIn smarter... in the btob space IP targeting is new again... but overall this sector is highly risky
+1. This dude knows what he is talking about
Tune pays low and their engineers seems mediocre. They offered 125k base, and 5000 options (after negotiation) at some low amount. They wouldn't tell me what the options were valued at. Very easy interview as well.
