When will auto production be back to normal?

I’ve got a quote for Kia EV6 with 10 month lead time AND $7K over asking. For those working at automakers, when do you think the supply chain issue to normalize?

Ask around and find a dealer who will let you order direct. We did it recently, put $1000 down and ordered exactly what we wanted at sticker price. Had to wait about 6 months but it was totally worth it.

Expect to pay MSRP. But do NOT pay anything more than that. What I did was put a $3k deposit down. It took about 2 months for a car that fit my requirements to become available but when it arrived I had first dibs on it. Not all dealers will do this but they are out there. I don't know about Kia but I know Toyota and Honda dealers in the Bay Area that are willing to do this.

  • Probably next year.
If you need to have a car, you should just buy it now.
If you don't, you should just wait

Just wait for fuel price to keep increasing along with interest rate increases. Sales will slump. Prices should lower even with chip shortage(likely to continue till 2023 Dec!) as people won't buy cars when rates are high.
