Tesla FSD worth it?

Decided to bite the bullet and get myself a model 3 LR. Currently it’s costing 56k.
I am not certain if I should get FSD .. as it’s another whooping 12k. That total price is really making me think twice and drop the idea of Tesla altogether.

My weekday commute is mostly city with minimal highway driving .. ex Sunnyvale to Cupertino.

Of course get it. Fsd is going to be released in 2018 and your car will become a robo taxi and pay for itself!

The topic here was FSD. Its ok to like tesla as a company and many of us are shareholders and own teslas ourselves. Its still ok to make fun of elons terrible ability to forecast and acknowledge that right now I can call a self driving car, even if just one one city, but my tesla cannot. Chill, it's a funny joke because it's real ;)

It’s nowhere perfect agreed of course, but neither are the others, just because they have some limited cars on the road. Elon does make really aggressive public claims to his ambitions, but it’s silly if one is disappointed if they’re not met by that time If you don’t set outlandish deadlines, you’ll be spending the next 20 years making plans like GM, Ford etc. the results are in well before reasonable timelines. Aim for the stars, cos even if you miss, you’ll land on the moon (or however that goes).

I don’t think Tesla is full self-driving in its full capacity yet either, I’m not defending that. I’m saying the investment here is intended for longer and broader objectives, not to please a well-defined set of geo-fenced rules. It’s good the others exist in whatever they’re doing - we need that yes.

      Peace ✌🏼

Tesla lured everyone into buying FSD 2+ years ago. Still no FSD. If you invested that money in stocks, you may have got a new tesla by now

Tesla is too expensive now - at 56k I can get much better car experience in Mercedes or bmw and not having to worry abt range anxiety - even with increased gas prices - merc is much more premium and efficient than 56k for a Tesla

I paid for FSD, but my safety score is 74 for the past month and I won’t be getting it activated :(

  • Just skip the fsd for now and buy it later when you feel like it. The car itself is worth it without the fsd.
