I moved here 6 months ago. I seriously donโt find anything interesting outdoors. There does not seems to be any public places. Is there really anything fun to do outdoors here? (I donโt want to kayak in the filthy river either).

Being in Austin, you get mixed of everything, it's central, you can drive to San Antonio, Dallas or Houston if you want to..
In terms of activities or natural landscape, yes, it's boring.. definition of "Beauty" is different in Texas! Some folks call these tiny hills as mountains lol, huge number of crowds each year drive to Lost Maple to see Fall colors (nowhere near even to the worst Fall colors in East coast)... Here people make big fuss about Zilker park, lake Travis, Barton springs, ACL etc... because those are the only thing they have and they want to feel good about it...
On the bright side, it's a decent city, good tech market, still low living cost and a bunch of good schools.... Quality of life is high here even though it's a boring city... So it's a trade-off, what you want really, there is no perfect city... You need to compromise a little bit to get something better...
(Lived in southern & northern CA and settled in Austin)
