Should I let recruiters I’ve been in contact with know I quit my last job?

Long story short, I quit my last job in January. Left off on very good terms, it was more of a location thing as we transitioned to a hybrid approach and I decided to not return to the Bay.

I’d been in touch with some recruiters and sent off my resume that lists my experience as through “Present”.

Not planning on lying about it if it does come up, and I’m prepared to talk about my reasons — however, will this screw me if I do get a job at a FAANG type company? Wondering if they’ll see the gap in a background check if I get an offer and think I was being dishonest.

From a recruiter’s standpoint, I wouldn’t worry about the ones you have already been in contact with. However, for future conversations and recruiters - I highly suggest ensuring you are sending them the correct resume reflecting the end-date and mentioning that on the phone. No one should fault you for not wanting to return back to the office, especially since that’s why the hiring market is so hot because candidates have more power than ever.

No need. I just went through this exact same scenario, and it never came up. Just signed with Amazon.

What do you mean by putting in two weeks? Is this for the job you started on Feb 3?

You should change your resume to be accurate. If you get moved to the offer stage, they’re gonna verify your dates of employment, and if they find out you’re lying about your dates of employment, it could change their decision. I know I wouldn’t hire someone for my team who doesn’t tell the truth off the bat.

  • Hell no. They’ll offer you less unless you get competing offers.

Could come up on background checks, I wouldn’t want to explain why I lied in my resume. Gaps at the moment are fine I guess, many want to relax before joining a new gig
