Do you count ESPP in your TC on blind?

I know there’s always a debate here on whether or not you should base your TC off of current stock price vs offer. But something that doesn’t get mentioned is ESPP. Should that be included as well?

Thoughts?

Offer: $210k
TC now w/o ESPP: ~$235k
TC w/ ESPP: ~$249k

How come $14k from espp? It is capped at the 15% of base. Assuming your base is $150k you buy $22.5k worth of stock, at 10% discount (12.5% profit). This gives you an extra $2800 in yearly profits

Google has no ESPP but for some reason I thought you are from Microsoft. Looks like Twitter is different

    • We get 15% off of the trading price at the beginning or the ending of the ESPP window, whichever is lower. So I could spend $10k and make $11.5k or $30k or more depending on where the stock is trading at the end of the period.

Honestly I do include it, as well as 401k match and some smaller benefits. Because the other offer I had (Amazon) did not have these, and since I max out 401k and ESPP it is money in my pocket

    If it's significant why not?

I joined eBay last year but eBay ESPP policy is %15 off over 2 year period. So even me who joined a year ago is getting the stock at 30$. Stock is at 50$ today so that is like 66% gain. My base is around 185k so that adds around like 12k "free" money over a year.

I don’t do it, because at best it’s like $5-10k more but in a regular non-bull run cycle is more like $2-4k.

However, ESPP can be factored in on W2 and some people just count W2 for TC. So in some cases people are including it.

There should be another (the correct choice) "Yes, when comparing offers" or negotiating offers based on current comp. For sure I'm going to consider the money I'd be losing accepting an Amazon offer. At Adobe they do a 2-year lock-in on the lowest price... my lock in price for the last period was like 190... on my W2 it was 16k. For the year it will more than 30k.

you'd be an idiot to not consider that income when looking at other offers.
