Is the Glassdoor ‘know your worth’ calculation realistic and fair? I’ve been at the same position for 3 years with no base raise.. only bonus increase but that is only guaranteed outside of my control by a manager who isn’t interested in the branch’s growth. I am 17% underpaid for my experience and position. That is insane! I’ve asked 3 times for an increase because I’ve only attained added responsibility and duties. HR threw me under the bus when I addressed that amongst other things, the corporate office is fond of my manager because he’s charismatic and drinks with them on the lavish corporate getaways often.

There are two paths, they are basically the same. either prove you are worth more than they are paying you using actual measurable evidence or update your resume with that info and get a new job. Research interview questions and start interviewing.

If you don’t have that info then now is the the time to start putting it together.

  • Glassdoor isn’t reliable. Comp depends on a number of variables, including your geography and the industry of your company. Best to talk to a recruiter in your field and ask what’s Market.

  • 3% is the average increase in the US. To get 3% you should be good at what you do. For above 3%, exceptional. Promotion is a result of your work and the relationships you build that advocate your work.

You are not only one. We are often fed with BS about how they appreciate your efforts and so on, but only 3 merit increase in 7 years and one promotion, mostly "dog bone" bonuses thrown at you once in a while, many of them are "dinner for 2 at steak house" amount... With some decent when your worked your butt off on projects and they come from project budget left overs...

It’ll help fellow people advise if you give more details. What’s your base, position and field?
