Is Applied Scientist (ML) a Software Engineer or Data Scientist at Facebook?

Currently interviewing for MLE roles at Facebook. Then another recruiter reached out for Applied Scientist. 2nd recruiter say I can parallel interview both and rejection in one won't affect the other.

I looked at the Applied Scientist round, and there is a ML Sys Design just like MLE. I look at JD and it's heavy on ML, mentions NLP, search, ranking all that good stuff. Nothing about SQL or BI (things associated with data scientist).

So... Where does Applied Scientist land in Facebook? Is it SWE or Data Scientist? More importantly TC wise... I know data scientist TC is one level below SWE. Would Applied scientist have same TC as MLE? Or are they pegged at DS TC?
