Hi all, I am having my onsite soon with Facebook and I am very nervous(first time with FAANG) . This is a generalist role and looking for someone having exp for 2yrs with DW, sql, coding.

I am expecting below format

1) 2 etl Round - product sense, etl, sql and coding
2) 1 data modeling round

Any pointer would be helpful. How they present a case study is what I am curious about.

#data #dataanalytics #facebook

  • Go through some well know company sec filings and note down the metrics these companies use to measure how successful they were.

Next, practice mocking out some charts that could be rendered on a dashboard to present these metrics.

Next, write down some hypothetical star schemas that could be used to store these metrics.

Finally come up with 2-3 questions to measure specific things, or answer specific questions based on that data in that schema, and write appropriate SQL queries.

And then repeat the same work assuming all that data is held in some python collection, and write a python script to come up with the same answer.

If you repeat this process for 2-3 different types of companies, that should be good prep.

    • Thank you for the detailed explanation.. I am still confused on what I write using sql could be asked as python. For eg if I measuring average number of customer who used promotion. So I have to come with similar calculation using python like count the customer with promotion code in a list and count the total in list and divide the number( just a thought )

I have my interview in few weeks and Your explanation really helped me to start my preparation.
I'm still having one question. Do we get any files to load into tables? My recruiter also mentioned about streaming data, does it mean we get live data feed?
