I am planning to resign 3 weeks before next joining.

I am worried about insurance. My wife is pregnant and she is also covered under my plan.
I have a HSA plan and i remember there are some conditions for HSA that you need to be covered for entire year without loss of coverage.

Pretty common situation so if anyone know what can are my options.

Most of the company insurance will cover until end of month when you resign. Double check your coverage and make sure you resign early month

  • Even HSA plans are legally required to give you cobra. You get a packet in the mail after you leave. COBRA will cost as much as your employer and you were paying for the premium. You have I believe 30 or 60 days to enroll and coverage will backdate to the day you left your previous job. You can do cobra for a single month or up to a couple years depending on the state. Your HR dept will definitely have this info

  • In case you need to use healthcare, COBRA is retroactive for 3 months

From the screenshot, it said Medical Coverage (first bullet point) and HSA (fifth bullet point) end “on the last day of the month that your employment ends”.

I don’t know which benefits end the “last day of your employment” cause screenshot gets cutoff.

So, no problem for you op?

If it’s just a week, don’t sign up for cobra. It’s a fucking scam (as is most other health insurance in the US). Just get a cheaper plan through healthcare.gov marketplace (still expensive) or through a private insurance company.
You can also negotiate with the hospital to invoice you after you get your new employer’s paid coverage. They usually don’t have an issue.

As far as I’m aware, pregnancy is not a pre existing condition for most marketplace plans. Don’t know about private. I’m not fully understanding your second question
