Hi guys I’m on L1 visa currently which needs to be renewed next year in April. This is my last attempt at the H1B lottery before requiring a renewal. I’ve heard chances of renewal are not that great.
Can I apply for H4 EAD (Spouse on H1) as backup? Given the current processing times for H4 is this possible?
Can someone provide more details on how long it takes to get H4 Visa plus EAD and if I can keep it as a backup option?
Emailed the lawyer but as usual no reply from them.

Yes, applying for H4 is probably only option for you to stay. Your spouse company’s immigration team can guide better as to when to apply. You can also apply for H4 EAD (if your spouse has approved i-140 with him). Both applications can be filed together. I did the same thing for my wife, and we got the biometric done last month.
EAD card may take about 6months to come and then you can apply to any company for work. You can get processing times on USCIS website. Mostly all the applications go to California processing center these days.
So total time = time for H4 visa + 9 months for EAD right?
