On a phone screen where I’m talking to an actual person, I can explain my thought process and most of time I pass to the onsite even if my code isn’t completely correct.
So yeah if a company gives me a HackerRank problem I’d rather not waste my time doing that and instead do a technical phone screen with another company where I have a much higher probability of passing.
1)you improve as an engineer/ it allows to show off your engineering skills
2)it shows all of your design, code style, correctness skills
3)no time constraint(like in real life)
4)it doesnt interfere with your current work i.e no time off needed and you can do at your own free time
5)it shows company values engineers over leetcode *******
The 5 things makes it a no brainer for me
