Always been an average guy in everything. Education, average coder(can’t take it more than LC medium), way of thinking, in job, in analysis of any general matter, dated sloppy, average undergrad, state university, low balled job, insulted by seniors and juniors while they thought I wouldn’t even understand humiliation. It’s my deep observation after 3.5 decades of introspection.

However the only time I outperformed was when I was deeply humiliated by teammates. I made sure I perform and get promoted in that specific year and continued to be underdog again in coming years.

However some of my university friends who just passed with borderline GpA, whom I (underdog myself) considered as losers joined Google, Facebook and Netflix today. Proud of them and I recently got a hope that I too might have a chance. I guess I am happy and humiliated which is the reason I am posting here.

Can you guys please share what’s the best plan to prepare in next six months. I would be happy if you can like give exactly what topics to prepare for how many weeks and list of Leetcode questions which you solved to get there? I can spend up to 3 hours everyday and 6 hours in weekends.

If you're making 250k and are feeling like a failure, not sure any career move is going to change your fundamental self image.

You'll just make Google, be happy for a week, and then compare yourself to Jane Street and feel imposter syndrome again.

Get yourself a SO, sign up to an exercise class, etc etc. Put effort into all areas of your life equally.

As long as you put that little bit of effort into bettering yourself every day, whether it's LC or not, consistent LC/self improvement every single day for a year will payoff hugely.

Plenty of fat, miserable, unhappily single blobs work at Google.

    Don't be one.

Being ambitious for a happy and fulfilling life isn't just about TC.

True. I have this outlook as loser which makes anything I achieve as not good enough . I need to change that. Thanks

I mean you're making a little less than 200k USD more than I do, so you're doing something right. Pretty unfair to call yourself a loser with that TC.

Just have a wider perspective and put work into the other important stuff as well. Money isn't going to solve your unhappiness at your TC.

OP = However the only time I outperformed was when I was deeply humiliated by teammates. I made sure I perform and get promoted in that specific year and continued to be underdog again in coming years.

Me = I am sorry for an old sack like you (probably a glorified DBA) has no business in tech, you amount to nothing, will never achieve anything and your career will sizzle out at Kohl's in your mid 50s doing backend infra work. You will retire in Oklahoma city in a trailer-park and life alone with your pet canary until your time comes.

    Hope it's motivating :-)
