A hiring committee at Google had a reputation for being particularly tough. Each week the hiring committee would review the interview results from the weeks interviews and make the hire/no-hire decision for each of the candidates. This hiring committee wanted to keep their bar high, so they approved very few hires. To reduce bias in the interview process, the hiring committees at Google don't meet the candidates, they only get "interview packets" for each candidate, with notes and feedback from the people that conducted the interviews. The Google recruiter assigned to this particular hiring committee felt like their bar was unreasonably high and many exceptional candidates were being turned away. So they conducted an experiment… The next week the recruiter provided the hiring committee with eight candidates to review. None of them impressed the hiring committee and so they rejected all eight candidates. The recruiter smiled smugly and said: "Guess what guys - those were YOUR interview packets from when YOU interviewed at Google. You just decided not to hire any of yourselves." so the google guys said - well duh , we are a bottom heavy org so now we can only let the pros from albertson in . this is a 100% true story because a guy who posted this on linkedin said so
Amazon does this somewhat well. Hiring almost all the folks and PIPing if they don't fit the bill. The theory is interview process is biased and tend to fail, you can't get someone's ten years of life in one day and three phone calls.
I'm missing the punchline with Albertsons

Guess that means it is time to pivot the Google hiring committee by their own standards. They are now LE.
Pretty sure this was in the book “Work Rules” by Lazlo Bock
Lol. Google HC is LE. HR did the paper trails to put them in dev plan 😂
This is from a talk called "what did I learned from doing 250 interviews at Google". Search it on YouTube
