No at all. And I would not do so untill you have an offer from another team. However, depending on the hiring manager, they will ask you to speak to your manager before giving you a written offer (happened to me), so before I got the written offer I had to let my manager know I was accepting the verbal offer from another team, so the hiring manager could set up a meeting with him and he not be caught off guard.
It is somewhat easy. Unless it is is a sister team within your current org, you have to go through the formal interview process which is applying to a position through the careers website, then getting selected for an interview loop (3-4 interviews), then getting an offer. Once you have an offer, you can start right away or give your current team two weeks notice (that's what I am doing). The whole process can take any time from a couple weeks to a bit longer . I applied for this position like a month and a half ago, and then talked to someone in the org before the holidays, then the holidays happened, so it delayed a lot. Once I had the interviews, it took just a couple of days to get the other teams offer.
