The ceiling for mobile engineers seems a bit low. Backend engineers, on the contrary, can work on their scalability skills and deployment skills, which are also often asked during the interviews. This also makes me wonder what the design questions are like for senior mobile engineers.
As far as I know, for tech companies, CTO or VP of Engineering positions are designed for backend engineers where applicants must have experiences with handling millions of users and requests per second.
So that makes me wonder, is mobile engineers’ career ceiling low compared to backend engineer’s? Should a new grad just go for backend dev if personal passion is set aside? Any advice for current mobile engineers?
I work for a startup so I’m very curious thoughts from someone works for big tech companies.
Thanks fam!
