I saw a recent trend of SWE => SE

Is this because of layoffs and people need income, or is SE becoming lucrative? I know at some companies SE do not even write any code. Personally I know at Atlassian they do and I also think so at Facebook.

What does a SE do? There are too many damn roles to keep up with lately.

I think it's similar to solutions architect in aws.. though not sure. I agree these mix of titles are so confusing

One day I randomly applied for a Support/Solutions Engineering role. There was only one technical interview and it was an easier version of a LC easy question. Specially matching parentheses but only matching “()”.

    The rest was behavioral.

Granted I didn’t get the job because I didn’t have “customer experience”. But the base salary would have been $110K which isn’t too bad for NYC.

Speaking for myself I got tired of slogging on code all day and wanted to try something different and more business/customer solution-focused.
