Let's ignore money for a second. Strictly in terms of projects, as a software engineer, what company has the most interesting projects? At Cisco I work on some cool projects in python java and c/c++. Recently I have a few microservices written in go under my ownership. At facebook I imagine I will work in some php project, right?

You’ve written a few micro services huh? Lol. FB lives at a different scale than most of the world, and couple that with their ability to usually move quickly means that if you’re good, few other places will give you an equivalent opportunity to build cool shit.

  • I’ve been writing exclusively C++ then exclusively Python (switched teams) at fb for the past 5 years. You have far more options here than writing PHP code, if that’s what suits your interests.

You'll likely get to work with higher caliber talent / learn more from your peers at FB.

What are your interests? Cisco is obviously more networking infra related. FB is … Facebook. But FB does have oculus, bare metal switches and servers and more but that’s not their core area.
