Hi,

I am interviewing several companies now.
Got an offer from L4 (IC) Wayfair this week. Other companies will be on-site next two weeks.

Can someone insight me that what is the scope of Wayfair L4 vs Meta E5 && Google L5 && Amazon L6 && Coinbase IC5?
Like:
1. What is the ratio of L4 (IC) in Wayfair?
2. How many SDEs I can lead typically?
3. Is L4 the tech leader in the team?

    L6 at Amazon spans from mid Meta E5 to lower Meta E6.

    Wayfair L4 is like Meta E5.
    Wayfair L5 is high performing Amazon L6 on cusp of PE promo.

    Coinbase IC5 is same as Meta E5.

    the lower end Senior roles (Meta E5, CB IC5, Wayfair L4, early Amazon L6) lead small teams and small projects, still do lots of code and a little bit of org wide impact.

    Upper Senior roles (Meta E6, CB IC6, Wayfair L5, Top performer Amazon L6) lead small to large projects. Are good mentors, involved heavily in org strategies, more at the consultation level than general implementation. Typically leading 1-2 teams efforts or projects that span 3+ teams integration efforts.

    Can't compare for other companies but at W l4 are generally seen as tech lead on a small team of developers responsible for driving domain contracts and higher level design. They also are generally responsible for delivery and quality of larger epics that need to be pushed out, however it varies from team to team

    It depends, Wayfair just leveled up 1 level and due to historical schema L4 can be manager’s manager and could be IC. My team two L4 left for Meta m1 and Uber EM role. Don’t use those bullshit levelfyi chart, most faang use YOE and management YOE, interview performance, phd or not thing to filter the level, not 100% your last company level(and you could also not tell them either).

    L6 at Amazon is a senior IC or manager of other L6s. Levels.fyi has a good comparison graph.
