  Hulu is in LA. And I have been working in and around LA since 5 years. I can attest to that LA's tech scene is improving over time. Primarily because employees are finding it easy to stay in LA than the dwindling SF environment.

Silicon Beach (hulu, google, Fb), Car Companies (trueCar, Tesla, etc.), and lot of agency's. It makes sense since this is more of a media city (movies, shows, etc.). Amazon just opened a campus in culver city for prime video I think. In general it's a pretty cool tech scene, not really like SF or NYC. Much more spaced out and friendly.

Almost as expensive as the bay but salaries hit a ceiling faster. I think it's more tolerable for Jr/mid level but for more senior persons the options that advance in salary are slim
