Thinking atlassian because of better culture and wlb. Both jobs are remote. Would like to enjoy life outside of work.

Would really appreciate any perspective on what's the best move here.

Coinbase TC: 200k
Atlassian TC: 165k

I'd pick Coinbase. You want your wlb to suck at new grad to learn quickly and have better wlb later. But ymmv

OP explicitly stated they want good WLB. Most people probably didn't read this and went straight to the poll.

Coinbase is Amazon tier WLB-wise. Atlassian on the other hand is full of rainbows and unicorns. Try to negotiate Atlassian up, but either way take it and ignore the rest of this thread.

Also coinbase equity upside is severely limited, as in a dollar amount is converted into actual shares every year. You don't get a huge chunk of stocks up front which will all go up in value together.

FYI, just know that by choosing Atlassian, you may sacrifice career growth a little. But I'd say if you want to enjoy life, Atlassian wins by a mile

Atlassian promotes new grads pretty reliably at the 1 year mark, so that 165k will be at least a bit bigger in a year.

Does Coinbase? Or is it going to be 2-3 COLAs and then having to jump ship to get a raise?

OTOH, we usually don't negotiate on new grad offers (of the direct from college sort, as opposed to in industry recent grads.)

It varies year to year, but for 2020 new grads going into P4 in Oct 2021 on the regular promotion cycle for the Bay Area I think it was around $20-24k or around 16-20% (but that actually included some annual increase which would have been there even if not promoted, so the promotion percent itself was something more like 10-15%

Other zones would be lower but the percent should be the same

Stock grant targets change year to year, but last year people who got promoted got the target grant based on the new level

Last year the differences between P3 P4 and P5 base grants in the US were fairly substantial and thats about all I can say about it.

They haven't told us anything yet about budgets this year (and probably couldn't say more if they hadl
