We are looking at some houses in the Fair Oaks area of Sacramento ($600k). SF Bay Area house is valued at $1.7 million, owe $330k. We are both remote at the moment, but it’s possible we’d have to RTO 1-2 days a week (2 hour commute each way from Fair Oaks). No school aged kids. 5 and 10 years to retirement age respectively. We’d have no mortgage with the move and a huge chunk to invest or even buy another smaller house for work purposes/investment. We have no family in the SF area. But our Bay Area house could be very valuable in the next 10 years as it’s near a planned Google campus.
Any advice? Thoughts? I’m also worried we’ll get laid off and have to RTO and be stuck commuting from Fair Oaks (Sacramento) but it is at least a short period of time.
It’s weird to be thinking about this. #housing #mortgage #sacramento

If RTO … then come back to Bay Area and rent Sacramento home
Even if you get laid off,if new company has RTO in full swing, you can get a Tesla with auto pilot to reduce the driving stress, it’s definitely not gonna be easy but I know someone who did that for 6 months until they got another remote job
I don’t buy the idea of having autopilot helps reducing driving stress unless it’s L5
