A recruiter from Waymo recently reached out to me via LinkedIn about positions with them for Software Engineers with at least 2 YOE. He mentioned that the interview process would be a coding assessment using Byteboard (40min Technical Reasoning, 70min Code Implementation). If successful, it will be followed by 4 rounds of virtual onsite.
Would someone who has taken the Byteboard assessment or has gone through the whole interview process be willing to give me some pointers? I looked online but couldn't find much in terms of what to expect or to prepare for this assessment.

Update:
Here is what the Byteboard email says about the assessment:
1. Technical Reasoning Exercise (40 min): You will work on a document outlining several different implementation options for a product. You will be tasked with completing the document by choosing an option and answering any questions left by other members of the product team.
2. Code Implementation Exercise (70 min): Following the technical reasoning exercise, you will implement a few aspects of the product described in Part 1. You will need to navigate a small multi-file codebase and write clean and functional code.

Update:
It wasn't too bad.
I passed the assessment and then failed the virtual onsite.
I interviewed for the simulation team.
My assessment had a part where there are a few approaches about how to implement something and you basically choose one and write the pros and cons.
The second part was implementation of some functions using OOP.

Hey op, do you mind sharing your background, what do you think about your experience made them reach out? Is the role domain specific?

I have worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory for the past two years. First as a DevOps engineer for about a year and now as a Full Stack Developer. I don't put all of that info on my LinkedIn so I think recruiters sometimes have a hard time figuring out what I do over here. The recruiter might have initially thought that I was experienced with real-time systems or robotics.
During the phone call the recruiter mentioned that they are hiring for the Simulation team which has sub-teams ranging from Data Pipelines to Full Stack internal applications.
He mentioned that if I made it to the final rounds I would be interviewed by different teams as opposed to team matching later.

I updated the original post with the instructions from the Byteboard email. For some reason it sounds like the assessment will be less like Leetcode but I could be wrong.

Hi op, I also have Byteboard assessment coming up. I could not find much information about test. Could you please tell what skills they would test, kind of questions they would ask in these two parts of an interview.
