So this happened to me, never thought it would but it did. I useful to read posts on Blind and think who would be those managers who would do such a thing, now I have also experienced working under one. I resigned in December and my manager was like is there anything we can do to make you not leave us and I was like no I have pretty much made up my mind and all that. Everything was fine until my last day and then all of a sudden when it’s almost noon on my last day my manager calls me, doesn’t even switch on her video (and she has always had her video on during 1:1s) and tells me hey we are marking you as unregretted attrition!! WTF 🤬 This was totally out of the blue as I never had any performance related discussions with her. Just before I resigned I even asked her about the path to promotion and she said there are some gaps and we need to work on them (which is what I think every path to promotion discussion sounds) but she did say you are performing fine at your level. I am not a star performer but have been consistent throughout, have gotten Meets Expectations in my last 2 performance reviews (the only 2 during my tenure). I have been clearly used as a scapegoat to meet the target but I never thought it would happen to me especially cz my manager had been great up until that moment on the last day. Is there a point in fighting this out? Also if someone has done something similar I’d love to connect with you and discuss more. It’s not just about “ well who cares, there are other companies “ but why to take this shit when you don’t deserve it” (not saying anyone deserves it but in my case there was never such a discussion before). I was seriously considering coming back now that I know the interview process so well. This is totally unfair and I feel like no one would ever know that this happened to me and it was wrong.

What is unregretted attrition? I’ve been a manager in tech for years, hired and fired people, and I’ve never heard of it

Post on your team chat and scare them into leaving by breaking their trust with her. The bridge is already burnt.

I agree with this. Basically she's fucking you for deciding to resign. There isn't much you can do at this point other than fuck them back.

    • this. you need to aware the toxic nature of your team's management and will be doing your team a favor when they decide to move forward.

What is the point of scheduling a call and telling you this? Why not just mark it and never tell the employee?

You won't be eligible for rehire after you are marked as unregretted attrition. That is exactly why I am waiting for my rating to be locked in March to switch jobs.

Bro, you resigned… why tf you care so much what they marked? Like you’re never going to work there again yet care about what some useless HR file says that no one will ever see?

Its not unreasonable for him/her to keep Amazon as backup option. You can always come back here in case things don’t go well in the other company.
