Andrew Schulz thinks tiktok trending twerking videos in US is China's new age of warfare because they want youth to be focused on mindless shit. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
And everyone's like woah that makes a lot of sense.

As if our social platforms didn't feed us political and other garbage before this
smh

Why is it such a bad take? It’s a stretch to call it a “warfare” and may be just a coincidence in the Us, but it’s pretty obvious that China wants Chinese citizens focused on mindless shit like consuming luxury goods and raging at random celebrities so people don’t think about politics, I wouldn’t be so surprised if they eventually want to employ the same strategies to influence other countries of interest 🤷‍♀️

    • But every single social app has tweaked their algorithms to focus on engagement.
Remember how Instagram started reels in Brazil and India first considering market there had appeal for such content?
Or twitter actively pushing us tweets we'd engage with?

This has been the play for all companies who rely on engagement. Singling out tiktok just because of china connection is tinfoil hat.

    • I agree, it's a bullshit way to make a clickbaity and intelligent sounding podcast. The US is definitely in a decline in most aspects, but TikTok is not the cause of that.

Perhaps what's more troubling is that this statement isn't obvious enough it has to be considered 'knowledge' or such a novel thought as to label it a ,'take'.

    • Because i know some conservative bros who think this dude's next Chappelle and follow his podcasts religiously. Even comments on this post show how people are like damn that's smart.
