Hi all,

To keep it short, my pay at my current company is 60k with no PTO, no health care, and no career growth or promotion. I am living paycheck to paycheck and not even have enough money to visit my family in India which I haven’t seen them in 2 yrs. I want to grow and learn in my career but as a Contractor nobody includes me in the business conversations and impactful projects. Most of the time I get repititive boring work that nobody else wants to do. TC: 60k (Data Analyst with 2.8 YOE)

I am exhausted, depressed and have lost hope that I am capable of finding a job. To keep my sanity in check, I have to meditate, take walks and workout everyday to get rid of suicidal thoughts.

I have submitted 128 applications, ton of networking on Linkedin and received max of 10 phone screens from Tiktok, Qualtrics, Starbucks, Mobiquity, Stord and all of them have been ghosting me after phone screen. Other companies doesn’t sponsor H1B.

I have been on this journey for the past 8 months and have been learning SQL, python(ML, DL), creating new projects, reading data science books, completed various DS certificates and even Data Structures (leetcode) just so I can get any kind of Job.

Genuine help needed. Maybe referrals, or just mentorship or someone to talk to.

TC: $60k

YOE: 2.8

When you said you didn’t get pass 10 phone screens, you’re missing some skill. Figure out if it’s communication skill you are missing, or you need more technical skill, and work on that. In the meantime keep doing what you do and grind it out. 8 months is not that long really.

It makes me feel better that 8 months is not really long. It's the social media that keeps making me feel shit when everyone is getting senior positions within a year or two. There's def a lot of room for me to grow and I will keep grinding. Thank you!

If you have A/B test experience highlight it in your resume, if you don’t have it still highlight it. All the ecomm and social media companies have tons of openings in this area which comes under data analytics. All you need is SQL and product sense. Dont lose hope, we all have been there. All the best!

https://meta.talentnet.community/ try contract positions at Meta, pay might be better. Every time from a failed interview I consider it is a practice. Most of the job interviews, they don’t care how much we know and only care about how we can contribute or how desperate they are. Feel free to DM.

  • Did you try Miro? They’re good with sponsoring - I’m sure someone here can give a referral. Also, don’t give up - I was on OPT long time ago and I applied to 300 jobs, only 10 of them called me back, and 3-4 interviews actually progressed resulting in 2 offers after a few months. You’ll get it, trust me.

Those who play the lottery rarely win, but those who don’t play - never win at all. You have to keep going to increase your odds.

I will give Miro a shot. It's the lack of feedback from interviews that makes it hard. But thank you! I will keep fighting

  • Been in similar situations for past 6-7 months. Around 50 screening rejections. Though I am looking for MLE positions and current pay is not that bad(tc:140). But I can understand what you are going through. Keep grinding, you can make this work. May be you need to get more technical skills. Practice more sql/python for data analysis/data engineer roles.
