Received a reddit senior offer:
240k base + 3610 shares@ 10 b valuation ( 220k @ 61$ per rsu) vested over 3 yrs, so around 73k per yr.
Total offer: 313k.
This offer seem pretty low given current market conditions.I also have a competing offer from datadog for a senior at around 370k, which I haven't started negotiating.
I know reddit recruiter mentioned upfront, they don't negotiate. Is this true? If not how much more can I push reddit, cause the way it is offer not very competitive.

Also recruiter mentioned I can quickly move up to staff, but I've heard those stories before, at Amazon.

Current tc: 275k 10 yoe

Mention the counter offer. If they don’t negotiate then you hit a dead end. Go with the other one. Pretty obvious.

Yea Reddit comp is trash for a non public company. Pre-IPO companies are supposed to give more equity than public companies to make up for the fact that it’s not liquid 🤣

IPO growth yadayada is just bs y’all spew from ignorance. Instacart is giving 500k+ packages for Sr but apparently reddit can’t 🙄, and you use this chance to make a jab at Amazon. Good show of your neckbeard culture

Not sure you know but Reddit has a filed for an IPO. They've earlier said that they're aiming for a 15B IPO in 2022. So there is potential upside. I think reddit is a hit or miss. Either a stonk meme crazy stock. Or it might dip back to 10B which still gives you a decent TC (not sure about you location and YOE)
Also, is there a 1 year cliff on RSU?

I asked her about cliff and refreshers, but did not get a clear answer. These numbers is all I see in the offer letter. I would've been ok with it, but comp structure rsu percentage is low to base. So there is not much upside, regardless what happens to their IPO. I might as well invest money from higher offer in the stock of my choice

No cliff on the initial RSU, they begin vesting immediately

  • I recently accepted a senior offer from Reddit as well. Had competing offers from Amazon(L5) and Meta(E5). Got similar numbers like from Reddit, re-negotiated it to 250k Base, 4000 stocks (3 yr vest), 35k sign-on.
While Meta was more than willing to match and with yearly refreshers and bonus (am aware that I definitely left money on the table), I decided to join here just because I personally enjoy Reddit more as a product. Also the interviews were much more interactive and fun (compared to the leetcode marathon in Meta).

Additionally, with some luck in the upcoming IPO the numbers will more than add up.

    1. Assuming this is a senior SWE, offer seems middle of the road to me. I would say for Reddit, it may be on the higher end of average.

    2. Reddit does negotiate so the recruiter was not totally honest.

    3. Reddit doesn’t even have a formalized and structured annual review process, so it is not easy to quickly climb. And, the raises at Reddit are lower than FANG. Amazon raises are trash % on base so I don’t include them.

I’ve found they are rather generous with performance related increases (compared to other tech companies I’ve been at) and there’s room for base to go up far beyond the 2-3% avg.

Not sure what you’re talking about SnooTacks. We 100% wont budge on RSUs unless you make some sort of cash swap. There might be some room on salary but anything over $240k for senior and you’re way overpaying.
