The way I see it, if Apple can WFH and make it work,,,can't most companies follow its model? I'm looking at you Netflix!

Why are you looking at us? Teams already are accommodating for permanent remote. I know many people who bought homes already and not coming back.

Some parts of Apple will be able to work remote. IS&T seems like one of them. Others won’t.

Don’t paint all companies with a broad brush.

I don’t know about living in Vegas, but there’s going to be a lot of buying opportunities on foreclosures there. The whole economy is based on the gambling and service industry which isn’t going to be back to normal for quite a while. Look for Q1 2021 for current delinquencies to finally hit the foreclosure auction stage.

I know people who live in Henderson. Nice area. Pretty boring though.

Why do we accommodate only extroverts? You realize not wfh is torture for introverts right?

Introverts do not need the same level of human interaction, but careerwise it's probably worse, I still love it

I guess only reason I want to go back to office is my increased expense for internet and electricity. Had there be benefits from employer for those, i would have preferred WFH more.

How about all those Google people that were trying to expense their lunch Doordash because of WFH and not having the company cafeteria? Pretty sure they coud afford to buy their own food, too.

On the internet thing, I think of it like a utility. If I smoke my data allownace I'll expense it back (the delta cost) but even if I wasn't WFH I'd still have internet. Not that big of a deal and if my budget is that tight that I'm sweating the Comcast bill, I've got bigger problems.

    • So you are willing to be stuck in traffic for 1+ hours every day just to not spend that $100 combined cost of internet & electricity per month (or $3 / day)?

In other words, you are paying yourself $3 / hour at the most.

      What a level of judgements.

  • People who want to WFH permanently scare the hell out of me. I hope to wake up in a few months and learn that companies weren’t actually serious about it. Man, where is this world going...

Age matters a lot I would say. What I needed/wanted at 25 is not what I need/want at 36. You are mixing thing up. The fact that street are empty is because of covid, not WFH.

    • This has nothing to do with social life, this is about having a wife and 2 kids at home. Come back to me when you get there and tell me what you think about permanently working from home.

You think WFH makes sense for a hardware company? Pretty much no one has laboratory setups at home to test hardware prototypes and keep work confidential

WFH only makes sense if your products are mostly/entirely software

Hahaha hire someone?! At Amazon you are expected to be a little bit of everything because to focus on delivering quantity.

Lol. Amazon can’t afford a technician but can afford 🍌. Time to time is maybe once or twice a month. I do it just to make an appearance for the most part. Generally on my team people might have to come to the office max once per week. WFH 9 out of 10 days qualifies as remote in my book. So guess I’m a contradictor.
