I have previous experience in a similar industry but I also got into Amazon as a new grad last year. I could have probably applied regularly, and this decision probably hurt my TC (especially since I found out I could not negotiate new grad TC), but I figured since transitioning industries the interviews might be easier for new grad. I joined right before the pay bands were adjusted, and curious if it would be better career/TC wise to stay for like 1-2 years to gain experience or just LC and transition on.

The benefit of being SDE II already is you usually get SDE II loops and just have to avoid getting down leveled. If you leave as SDE I you might get SDE I loops and have to hope someone on the loop liked you enough to up level you which usually requires another interview.
I'd much rather take my chances with a down level than pray for an up level.
