Everyone seems to complain about something or the other here. Is there a company where people are objectively well paid and feel happy? Why does it almost seem like Amazon has to be Sadist.

Like folks going to Meta, are you happier and better paid at amazon? Same for ex amzn googlers.

Amazon: ok $ bad on happiness
Meta: high $ medium happiness
Google: low $ high on happiness

Is this true? Or BS?

Google still has highest blind rating.

For me it’s less about the company and more about your direct boss/team. If you have a team you genuinely laugh, have fun and get along with…the kind of people you’d invite to your wedding or kids birthday party…then it doesn’t matter if the work can be crap sometimes, you’ll still enjoy it.

That’s where company culture also plays a part. Amazon’s stack rating system makes it harder to form such trust and bonds. Feels like everyone operates really robotically and don’t get personal with each other, at least in my org.
