Zeta vs Microsoft

Asking on behalf of a friend who has been offered jobs in Zeta and Microsoft, giving almost the same TC. Which organization would be a better place considering culture, wlb, career growth, and promotions?

Microsoft: (Level not known, probably L60)
Role: Software Engineer (Full-stack)
TC: 22L (base) + 3L (JB) + ~2.2L (perf. bonus) + 60K USD in stocks (25% x 4) = ~38.32L
Location: Hyderabad

Zeta:
Role: SDE2 - Frontend
TC: 32L (base) + 6L(JB, over two years) + 2L (Benefit valuation) + 21,546 USD equity = 41L
Location: Bangalore

YOE: 2 years 3 months
Current TC: 24LPA (all fixed)

Microsoft's offer is for Azure and Zeta's team is not known but it will be some frontend work in Vue.js and React Native. Any suggestions on which one of these would make a better career choice are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

      I don't think Zeta will be good for FE. Since it's not a B2C company, the work will not be challenging for frontend.

  • Nobrainer go for MS. MS stocks have seen 4x growth in the last 5 years. Promos are fast as well.

    High zeta TC is because of their joining bonus which is quite large post that you need to perform to get it. For "meets expectation" Zeta gives no bonus, so think about that and you need to work hard without knowing what performance slabs you would get to get the bonus amount. Think twice before joining Zeta. Also their stock is paper money and i would count that as zero.

      WLB and work is reasonable. I guess litmus test will come next year as there was huge hiring that happened this year and next perf cycle will be fun i.e only the "exceeding expectations +" folks will get bonus and you might start seeing the rant on blind post that :p

    Zeta is pretty good in terms of work, learning, culture, WLB.
    But when you compare with MS Azure and the TC difference is minimal, I guess I would go with MS.

    Few things to consider:
    1. Azure is not laidback as old MS teams. I’ve heard there’s a lot of good work, strict deadline,okaying WLB and learning is pretty good. So no “chilled life” in Azure😂
    2. Zeta’s frontend is a good opportunity. They’re creating services as SAAS for Financial Institutions and making UIs for them. But as they’re planning to Onboard all major banks, it’ll be a good scale (still less interesting compared to end users using them)
