I am transferring to SF from Austin and will need an H1B amendment as its a change in location. While the H1B amendment is in progress can I work continue working the original location of the petition i.e Austin for a month or so?

I need 30-40 days to relocate to SF but want to initiate the internal transfer and amendment process earlier.

I have asked this question to immigration lawyers but am awaiting a response.

If anyone has gone through this process please let me know.

    You can work on either location as long as the petition is pending. If you work in SF, then it means "you are waiting for petition to go through", if you work in Austin, "you moved on receipt". But if the amendment didn't go through(very rare) you have to move back to SF. Once the petition is approved you can only work in Austin. Check with you lawyer
