What positions / stages of startup offer these great equity packages?

I see posts on someone’s equity in a company blowing up after IPO, etc. I don’t see attractive equity offerings on the front end of positions I see listed for startup, through my VC network or otherwise.

My question does not revolve around the luck involved in a startup going public, it is more: A. what roles in the startup (SWE, PM, Biz dev, ops, etc) offer these equity packages on contract and B. What series / stage of startup offer the large equity that can amount to $MM?
