Anyone here read the book AI superpowers? I just finished it this morning and found it great. Central thesis-- China and America will emerge as the two AI superpowers in the world, and China has the advantage.

I don’t need to read the book to get those 3 points. Yes China will have the advantages. And they work their programmers on a 996 system: 9 am to 9pm 6 days a week

They are the happiest / best wlb, but they also have the least competitive tech. It's the choice / trade off. Then again, Google is reputed to have both the best tech and the best wlb.

There are claims that a shorter work week makes people more efficient. Google's and Facebook's success seems to be more linked to the business environment in the bay area than whether workers work 40 or 60 hours. If more hours translated to better outcome, we could just always hire a lot more people.

Does it also go into depth on how China has less regulations and the impact for AI? Chinese companies are allowed to build monopolies, the big players can aggregate way more data about individuals. I believe this will let them smoke us in the ML world

Can someone explain why everyone seems to be sharing AI developments? Like why don't they keep it secret for competitive advantage?
