Studies have shown that bugs are proportional to number of lines of code ; And in that regard Go encourages copious amount of code and rewriting for the same concept over and over again. As for the dictionary comment , functional programming is a good thing - I think more programmers widening their mind is a good thing , personally and the industry moving forward. Go is regressive to me in that regard , it takes a dump on all PL theory and work over that couple of decades - mostly because the guys who came up with the language used C in its heyday and have sort of refused to go beyond it. As for the team part - I would rather work with a small group of talented brilliant individuals rather than generic joe bro ; Also for what it’s worth scala isn’t so exotic etc and I think most devs even without prior knowledge can reasonably pick it up and do quite well in it.

Go is awesome. Reading Go code is a pure joy. Every line of code is exactly to the point. There are no abstractions on top of abstractions on top of another layer of abstractions. F##k me, I'll never get back to Scala, which is the nightmare of a masochist. Kotlin, Clojure? Give me a break. These are good languages, but who cares about those abstractions on top of JVM? Rust – looks awesome, but I would not compare it to Go.

Go is safe, dead simple and fast. The community is great. If you want to solve real problems relatively quickly, go with Go.

P.S. modern PHP is progressing fast and is basically a dynamically typed Java. I won't be surprised if it overtakes the market for the second time.

I feel it's better than continue to work on Java at least.

It is way more interesting than java. I always believe as a professional, one should be extremely comfortable in dealing with any sorts of language.

Even inside Google Go doesn't have huge support. Some people like it, that's about it.

Go for Rust. Or wait for the next next C++ that we're making.
