Do good looks & smartness matter in tech industry?

I definitely know if you are hardworking and you bring a niche value to table, you will be respected, but if you compare two average employees, the one who is good looking & smart will have it easier.
Do you see these examples in your team? Want to get a general sense here.
I have seen that there is an unconscious bias in favor of good looking people in my team.
I remember one of CVPs at Microsoft calling out that he was tested positive for unconscious bias for good looking people in some inclusion training/test.
