Including myself I feel some tech talks/knowledge share sessions are boring given the meetings are in the morning. I’m thinking of saying”introducing pop quiz at end of presentation with 20$ Starbucks gift card”. Not sure if it would be fun or looked as schooling idea. Any other ideas/thoughts. I will never ask for folks to turn on cam.

Keep the talk at a higher level at least for the first meeting. Use diagrams where possible, be sure to enunciate your words and be very clear when presenting. Prepare and do a practice presentation in advance, many times I see people who seem like they are just winging it, a lot of uhhhs ummms and mumbles as they try to read from their own presentations and figure out what to say. Keep it short, longer than 30 minutes is just a chore. Take some pauses as you go, to give people room to breathe, ask questions or just to let them go for a piss. Don't just read the lines in your slides, anyone can do that, explain things beyond the slides. Also be sure to record the presentation and share the slides afterwards, sometimes despite everything people loose focus and having these afterwards will help them.

Keep it short and simple, attention span is limited for many.
