In Facebook, are there infrastructure teams which are not part of Production Engineering.

  • Yep. A huge chunk of the company is building infra to improve folks' productivity, and that includes front end, back end, mobile, etc etc

      Specifically looking for backend teams providing iaas, what is the org name, the equivalent of Production Engineering.

    • Production Engineering isn't an org, it's a role - and it's the same role whether you're working on prod or infra. We have XFN teams, so any infra team will likely have a few PEs to keep everything stable.

    You can think of it this way - swe’s focus on correctness while pe’s focus on scale and reliability. As others have said, infra teams are everywhere in FB and are supported by both engineering roles.

    Lol. Your question does not make sense. At this scale obviously we have a lot of infrastructure teams. And production engineering is not infra. Those two are different things
