Just how bad is Seattle really?

Mar 13 127 Comments

Reading about Seattle and deciding where to move, see lots of negativity, but the internet loves to exaggerate things. So for those who live in Seattle, how are things currently?

In particular, safety, nightlife, dating.

Back in the good ol day, you will only get shot/mugged if you are out and about around 10pm+. Now, it is anytime of the day

Just stop pulling statistics out of your butt and go see the street for once

    Internet is correct about Seattle.

    Homelessness
    Opiod crisis
    High crime rate
Real estate costs out of control
Depressing weather 9 months out of 12

If no income tax wasn't a thing no one would live here.

As a native of the Seattle area and currently living in the greater Seattle area, I personally think it’s a giant shit-hole now. It used to be nice and safe during the day and relatively safe at night.

Now though crime is out of control and it’s not unusual for people to be randomly assaulted by homeless people. The city went all in on the defund the police crap and now we’re reaping the “rewards”.

Beyond that traffic is horrible, real estate prices are insane, taxes are very high, and the state legislature continues to chip away at our freedom.

You’re probably looking at a 2:1 male/female ratio. Your TC won’t be that impressive in the market as the tech worker concentration is high. I would recommend moving to NYC where the gender ratio swings the other way and Manhattan alone is 4.5X (counting job commuters) the population and tech workers are still relatively scarce. As a single guy, you don’t have to worry about “safety” lol.
