Post MBA at Walmart, what's next?

Sep 21, 2018 3 Comments

I worked for a consumer goods brand as a marketing manager for 5 years then left for my MBA at a top 10 school. I was hoping to get inot a top tech company after my MBA but received an offer from Walmart, which I'm very grateful. But joining Walmart didn't result in a pay raise and I'm now dealing with the high cost of listing in SF plus student loans.

Now I'm forced to look for opportunities elsewhere and been interviewing with a bunch of companies in different positions, but I'm not getting any solid leads. Coming from a consumer goods company where marketing has a lot of influence and I'm finding my place in tech industry isn't quite the same so trying to transition has been tough.

Would love to get some advice from someone in the same position.

Where did you do your MBA? Are you able to leverage your peers? Networking and relationships will help greatly with that. You mentioned a top 10, those alumni networks are worth their weight in gold.

Not everyone can make it to the technical side, stay where you are and be content.
