Hi,
Considering a constructive feedback from blind fam.
I currently work for cognizant india. I was trained in mainframe and put into a project related to it.
I don't feel motivated enough and not sure if I will have a future in IT working in mainframe. So I am considering quitting my current job and upskill in a newer tech stack (preference is Front end developer).
Questions are:
1) Will career gap of six months will have any impact in future?
2) Is quitting job to upskill fine?
3)Is starting as a front end developer good?
P.S: I currently I have Zero offers. I don't find time to learn as my job demands 12-13 hrs of effort hence contemplating quitting job.

Make sure you have 100% dedicatation for preparation so you'll not waste those 6 months. I've idea about congizant (service based) culture in india, most of the people live in their comfort zone or inshort lazy to try something else. Get our of that zone before you resign. ( Not generalizing this but this is what i experienced )
Otherwise, don't think 6 months or year of gap will be an issue for any organisation.
Smaller companies many be more picky about gaps
