Passed up on Google for Job, but resume kept active? What does this mean?

Hi all,

I recently got feedback that I won’t be moving on to the hiring board process at Google after waiting to hear back for over 2 weeks. They said that I had great experience and accomplishments but there were candidates that had more. They said they’d keep my resume active and reach out once they found a role that fit.

Is that just a non confrontational way of saying “thanks, but no thanks” or do I actually have a chance of them reaching back out?

Pretty upset by this because I gave the best interview of my career. It’s just an awful feeling knowing you’re still not good enough.

Thanks,

I got rejected at google 3 times in last 8 years and every time I thought the interview went very well. This year I got a call from them - they waived my phone screen and called me straight onsite. I didn’t prepare a bit.. I just walked in to the interview room and said bring it on and I got an offer.
So don’t give it up! You’ll get in one day.

Everyone wants to work for google but they can’t hire everyone they interview. It is a good achievement to even make it past the phone screen which many fail. Try at other fang companies

Seems like you gained valuable insight and interviewing experience. It takes one jerk to kill you getting hired there and so there is no sense in worrying about the outcome. On to the next one.

Interviews are entirely subjective, you may have missed the mark simply because you went to the wrong college or worked at a no name company nobody had heard of before.

Interviewers are fickle creatures and your fate rests in the hands of snap judgements so I wouldn’t be too concerned.

  • I was rejected by Google Cloud today. I was told the same thing that we are going to forward your resume to other groups within Google and see if they are interested in you.

I am wondering the same thing that is this a polite No or I have a real opportunity over there?
