1. During interviews, how large of a whiteboard are u given? is it usually more than sufficient for the question?

2. Does the interviewer only read the question to you, or does he also write it out on the board. i tend to forget details when spoken to

3 do you get a duster to erase mistakes?

4. Do you write your code from top to bottom like an IDE? Or you allocate different columns/sections of the board to different functions?

Before you start writing on what you think is a wall painted with whiteboard paint, just confirm that it actually is.

Usually the whiteboard is 4-12 feet wide and 6-10 feet tall. It’s usually sufficient for code, but if you’re taking notes, writing pseudocode, examples, etc., you may need to erase.

It depends on the interviewer. Many write an example on the board and explain verbally. Many just explain verbally. Some write it out. If they don’t write, you can write as they talk.

I haven’t ever seen a place that doesn’t provide an eraser.

    1. It depends on the company. Even within a company, it depends on the org. And sometimes, if the org sits in different rooms, the board size can change significantly.

    2. So if the interviewer is the HM it depends on personal preference. If he/she isn't the HM then it depends on their manager's preferences.

    3. You can get a duster but it's better to bring one for yourself. And tell them beforehand that you're bringing one so that they don't act surprised. As if they have a right to act surprised...

    4. I usually only end up using a only small part of the whole board by the time the interview is done. I guess it's because of my habits as a kid when I used play a game and used to hoard all resources for the boss fight, and when I finally get to one, I used to hoard all my items for the next one.
