How are you guys planning to deal with the recession coming in a few months?
I am fairly confident itโ€™ll impact the housing market and the stock market in a big way. Nasdaq should crash about 35-50%.

Nearly every economist and banks have predicted the recession in coming months.

Good luck everybody! Buckle up for 2 years of negative returns

Oh come on - thatโ€™s not what I meant. Donโ€™t twist my words. Iโ€™m saying that OP shouldnโ€™t be afraid of stock market drop if they have a long term horizon.

Yes because large stock market drops happen in a vacuum

This incoming recession feels like it could have been prevented.

Aren't recessions normal? I mean like part of business cycle? Let's hope layoffs aren't like 08 or 01. 2020 was bad but we recovered pretty quickly

Any cash you will need in the next two years, such as to buy a home, should have already been pulled from the market. Outside of that, dollar cost average into the market and you will be fine.

  • Because economists and banks have predicted it, it will not happen. Look at their record of predictions. It's absolutely terrible. Noone has been reliably able to predict recession. The fact that so many of then are predicting this time, it will not happen.
Also, many intelligent people know that to draw inference from historical data, you need to have enough samples. We only have 13 samples from past 100 years, and the ๐ŸŒŽ was different in those situations. So,not only are samples small, they are not even similar. Only superficially similar. But these so called intelligent economists keep generalizing from that data. And as always, they are proven wrong. When recessions actually happen, these people had poor record of predictions.
Also, it is to be noted that these eople have very poor record of predicting almost anything, not just recession. Prediction is hard, especially if you are economist or banker haha.
