I haven’t used windows in years. But I guess some pros would be more powerful machines for less cost. I think MS has their own Unix like shell now.
MacOS seems to have better support for open source software. Easy to install anything using home brew. I can get an environment up and running in minutes with the right .dotfiles scripts.
I edited previous comment, but here are some more - terminals seem to be second class citizens, as are tools not in the apple ecosystem. I have about 4 devices I use regularly, not all are apple.
Their per-folder per-app privacy control is top-notch though, wish other OSes had it.
This will eventually be an afterthought as remote dev environments become more practical. Mac and Windows are both opinionated consumer OS and I prefer to use them as thin clients, but that's not always feasible rn
