Depressed and undervalued at job

So am struggling at msft. Joined 3.5 years ago and am still level 61 where I joined. Had to change teams in a year in a forced move and last manager been around for 2.5 years but just won't promote me.

Keeps grilling with questions and shows less faith in my decisions and contribution and is a cocky arrogant manager in general.

Microsoft had better culture but promo single handed depends on the hands of one person.

Making an internal transfer also feels risky as I feel I have to start over again with new team and people.

I get 100% in review time on the weight of my tech contributions but I keep getting blamed for bad communication with manager and hence no promo in sight.

Feel very hopeless like I lost 3.5 years of my life. Slowly prepping for leetcode and have interviews with Oracle oci and some smaller firms but am worried it might be worse somewhere else.

The main problem is not many companies can beat my stock awards and I don't think I have it in me to get into the biggies like Google or Facebook.
I have another 100k of stocks due to vest in the next two years and that could potentially double going by msft stock trend.
So am not sure if I should hang in there for the vest or just get out.

The other thing that makes me demotivated is that when I joined microsoft I had an offer from tesla with a high amount of RSUs and Id have been a millionaire today, and that is also playing into my head and motivation.

Stay:
Pros: vest stock, msft comfort
Cons: no self worth value or self actualization

Leave:
Pros: can atleast feel happy and motivated few months in new job
Cons: could be a worse place than msft.

Any thoughts and guidance to get me through this time ?#tech

Move ahead, you sound very unhappy. Sticking around for long only to wait for RSUs to vest is not very motivating, so you'll still be miserable. Also no promo for almost 6ys at the same company doesn't look super good on your resume.
RSUs will always be there. They are valuable, piling up stocks is good, but don't forget why and how you are able to be in that lucky position from the first place, and what happens if you loose what got you in.

For the long haul, preserving your motivation and passion for this craft is much more valuable than a wad of stocks (unless it's a really big wad).

Are you trolling or just crazy?

100k over 2 years is like 50k a year. This would be like peanuts when you jump ship. And if you have a FOMO of MSFT getting doubled, just buy MSFT stocks yourself by selling the stocks of the new company.

And again, that 50k stocks that you are losing your sleep over - will be your sign on bonus. So leave the place if you are unhappy and don't give a second thought to it.

Jiz, are you forgetting that you are earning for being happy? And if it is not clear, Money <<< Happiness when you earn above 100k.

Schedule time with your manager to go over this concern. Come armed with facts as you see it and learn what their stance is. Worse case, you know exactly where things stand. Best case, they see where things are wrong and make an effort to rectify.

Am I reading correctly in that 2 managers have not promoted you?

First of all MSFT ain't double anytime soon. Even if it did, the other tech companies would be in the same ballpark of growth

Second, you can get 400k RSUs at other companies. Maybe need L63 level though

Third doesn't your stock vest every quarter? You're not leaving a whole lot on the table when you leave, just leave shortly after the quarterly vest
