Feel like I might need more cash if I want to buy real estate soon (in 1-3 years), but then again inflation is making that less appealing.

Well, reading these made me feel better about myself not being a homeowner yet that's for sure.

Plan is to move to somewhere less expensive to buy a house that also gets us near fiance's family. I've been saving for 6 years and the home prices keep rising in my area.

Also hoping my fiance will get a new job with bump in comp and after getting married we will be DINK

Rent+utilities is like 800 total… don’t need to commute but probably spend 30 on transpo a week, 100
On food, 50 on booze and 50
      On random shit a week

My entertainment is pretty much video games and streaming services. I play pick up games in the park too.

  • High inflation actually makes real estate more appealing.... When inflation goes up, real estate goes up

      OP
I honestly don’t know. I wasn’t thinking of buying until I went to the bank to wire some money, and the guy who helped me was like “wow, you are doing so well you really should buy some real estate.” Then I did a bunch of research.

I live in NYC so I don’t want to buy here so I’m thinking a single family home somewhere and hire a management company.

Eh, ignore the guy. I’m not sure you want to tie yourself to real estate so young without even having a primary residence. Buy REITs if you want exposure.

Regardless, you don’t need more cash unless you have a definite plan and timeline for buying real estate. Just sell stocks from your brokerage account (long term) as needed.
