I am a research scientist at NV with 4-5 YOE in ML & AI research. I am going to get an offer from Alexa AI org at Cambridge, MA. The recruiter said I can chose either Research Scientist(RS) or Applied Scientist(AS) position since I qualify for both and the team really want me. My questions: 1. What is the diff between RS/AS at Amazon. I do want to actively work of Ml models but I also want to do my research & publish papers etc. Which one should I chose? 2. How much comp should I ask for? 3. I believe the level is going to be L5. Are there stock refreshers at this level? Current TC: 190k (Santa Clara) Moving to MA is not a problem since I am from MA.
How was your interview? What's your background?
Very good experience. My background is in ML/DL .
Is this role in Amazon Robotics .org in MA?
No as I have said in my post, alexa.
No RS/AS here?
ARS here :)
What is that? Applied research scientist?
Do you know what level? The range varies by level and location. I agree with the previous comments that AS is much better than RS Edit- just saw you said L5, so that'll be roughly about 250k-320k for seattle. Not sure about Boston
Boston should be the same I would assume.
Would anyone be able to comment on AS L5 TC for Vancouver?
This anyone
What does SDE do as opposed of AS on Alexa AI?
How much did you finally end up with? I am also expecting AS offer for Seattle!
Go for AS for sure. Expect TC up to ~$330K (unless you already asked for less).
AS is the highest paid job family @Amazon.
Apart from the pay.. how is the work different?
Do they have AS jobs in Sunnyvale
