NOTE: poll allows a selection of multiple options.

TL;DR
1. Follow your heart, and do not hesitate to make any move. Find anything exciting, otherwise, lack of motivation is killing life.
2. Yes, PIP is possible at Google, and I have verified it myself. It is still good to know there is PIP to create an efficient working environment.

Reorg -> boring project -> discussed transfer with manager -> SEE, EE, CME -> interview -> accepted offer -> performing low for 1.5 months -> PIPed
-> preparing hand-off documents

What could be done better:
- Switch team shortly after reorg if things do not go well.
- Switch team soon after discussing it with manager
- Resign early, shortly after signing new offer.
- Perform normally after signing new offer if willing to stay for a while.
- Collect personal files well before any further action.
- Do not hesitate to make a move (team transfer, resign, etc) during COVID.
- Be fully prepared for an immediate leave before looking up resignation information internally.

What's next:
- I will probably be marked non-regrettable anyway. So no big difference between, a). I resign now, b). leave after PIP (I have confidence I can walk out of PIP with no difficulties), and c). take separation package.
