I'm currently an eCommerce analyst at Nature's Bounty and want to transition into a product related role with the eventual goal being product management in tech. I would like to get into tech first (for the TC) then transition into product, but I'm open to suggestions. I have an interview with Walmart Connect tomorrow - I've heard it's easier to transition into pm at Walmart. Will getting into Walmart make my transition into tech easier? Lastly, to throw a wrench into the works, we got acquired by Nestlé. It's a large brand, but Nestle isn't a tech firm, and CPGs are just so stingy with pay. I have 8 months till my 2 year mark at nature's bounty and it's my longest tenured job so far. Should I stay at Nestlé and try to get promoted before jumping or find opportunities elsewhere? Edit: if you picked don't join Walmart, can you please elaborate why not? TC: 80K Potential Walmart TC: 110-120K YOE: 6 Total, 4 in eCommerce/marketing
At Walmart if you do really good in your role, and build a good network/visibility, you will get opportunities to move around. You have to build credibility first, then doors will open up for you.
For those of you who said don't join Walmart, can you please elaborate why?
Wmt connect would likely be okay, regular wmt ecom would be a no go
Yeah this would be at Walmart Connect. They're moving fast, 2 more rounds tentatively scheduled for Thursday already
Wmt ecom is a sinking ship if that influences your opinion at all, pm and eng talent leaving in droves the past months / yr
Will be a good stepping stone into tech and potentially even FAANG
